Where the Journey Begins
Where the oceans meet
7 destinationsFrom the very top of New Zealand all the way down to Auckland, this region has a bit of everything. Big dunes, wild beaches, world-class diving, and a famous island you can reach by ferry. It is the perfect place to start your New Zealand adventure.

Cape Reinga
The very tip of New Zealand, where two oceans crash into each other. A lighthouse marks the spot, and on a clear day it feels like the edge of the world. A sacred place in Maori tradition and a bucket list stop for good reason.

Te Paki Dunes
Massive sand dunes right next to Cape Reinga that you can hire a sandboard and fly down. One of the most fun things you can do in the Far North, and the views are awesome too.

90 Mile Beach
A huge stretch of beach where the sand is hard enough to drive on at low tide. Great for fishing, collecting shellfish, and watching the sun go down over the Tasman Sea.

Whangarei Falls
A beautiful waterfall that drops 26 metres into a clear pool surrounded by bush. There is a short easy walk around it, making it the perfect stop on the way north.

Poor Knights Islands
One of the best diving spots in the world, with warm water and loads of sea life you would not expect to find in New Zealand. Even above the water, the rock arches and cliff faces are worth the trip.

Waiheke Island
Jump on a 35-minute ferry from Auckland and you land somewhere that feels a world away. Vineyards, sunny beaches, good food and a relaxed vibe. Perfect for a day trip or a weekend away.

Piha Beach
A wild dark-sand beach on Auckland's west coast with big surf and Lion Rock sitting right in the middle of it. Climb to the top at sunset for one of the best views around Auckland.
